Understand the nature and purposes of research in the creative media industries

  1. Ryan,

Well done, you have covered everything required to meet grading criteria and you have used just enough examples to compliment the points to meet M1 but I want some images and visual links to your own work throughout this document.

I have awarded unit 3: P1 & M1 for this task as you have explained the nature and purpose of research with a correct use of subject terminology and examples.

In order to aim for D1 (which you really should) you must:
    - Provide pros and cons for using primary and secondary research - is one more reliable/valid than the other?
    - Use the term 'self-generated' when talking about primary research.
    - Mention examples from your own work for every term in the document, particularly quantitative and qualitative research.
    - When talking about the BARB, say how audience measurement panels provide them with data.
    - Provide images and examples for audience and market research, e.g., finding out that older woman are always looking for a way to look younger.
    - Give examples from your own work for when you have conducted production research (costs for props/location availability etc).

    Well written - good stuff.
