Initial Planning
Synopsis
My short three to four minute documentary will show how within recent years social media has evolved and developed, it will also show the effects it has had on the world we live in and how it will continue to affect the way we live. My intention is to try and give a broad overview of some of the changes the evolution of social media has made on our world and changed the way societies work and interect with each other. I will use video clips, voice overs, music and imaginitive presentation to emerse my audience within the text and grab their attention. The idea of my documentary is not to change the way people think or premote a certain way of thinking, it is simply to show the audience the effects social media has on the world and how it has changed the way we live.
Primary and Secondary target audience
My primary audience will be people that use social media on a daily basis in there everyday lives as a tool to keep them connected. My secondary audience will be the general public so that they can see the effects of social media even though they may not be as wired in as others.
Purpose/Aims of the Documentary
I want to show how social media has evolved and how it effects all of us in modern society on a global level, even though some people may not use it.
Classification
Performative Documentary.
Possible Constraints
It may be hard to represent and show the evolution of social media on a global scale, although this may be a useful tool to show how social media can be used to gather information from around the globe.

Documentary Individual Initial Idea
My individual initial idea was to do a short documentary on the rapid technological evolution of social media and how it is affecting and causing changes within our society. I would present both negative and positive aspects in order to portray a balanced argument and then leave it up to the audience to decide which side of the fence they fall down on. I'd use examples of current social media platforms such as twitter, instagram, tumblr, etc. to show how these rapidly developing and changing social platforms are changing peoples ideas and ideologies. The 21st century social media is so fast moving and so wide spread that it has become a social global hub for news and information on just about anything which is having a big effect on the way current media such as television, radio, etc. works and goes about gathering information and attempting to keep up with social media. The development of social media has also changed the way we communicate through instance messaging, public social updates, voice calls and global public distribution of information; this wide spread distribution of information has essentially broken down borders between countries and closed the gaps between our different continents, not only does it do this effectively but it does it at such a fast pace and updates itself so rapidly that it can hardly be controlled. I personally have some strong views on this topic that are both good and bad, I would relish an opportunity to present these points as a well balanced argument.
